This subreddit is filled with beautifully designed virtual homes next to salty memes about the price. You don’t have to browse The Sims subreddit (r/thesims) long to discover that the community is not satisfied with this pricing model. If an avid Sims 4 fan wanted to own all content for the newest iteration of the game it would cost $720 at full price.ouch. Fast forward to July 2020 where The Sims 4 has 9 expansion packs priced at $40 apiece, and upwards of 24 smaller DLC packs priced between $10-$20. Little did I know that EA was conditioning me for a life of overpriced DLC. EA would go on to release six more of these expansion packs before releasing The Sims 2 (2004) and yes, I bought them all. DLC has been engrained in the franchise since the beginning, where the "Livin’ Large" expansion pack was released in the launch year of the first game for $30.
